Impressed

Marks that are made in the form of a stamp and pressed into a ceramic body before it is fired.

A technique used with furniture and ceramics when part of a surface is removed and replaced with a contrasting material.

Ironstone

A form of stoneware where ground iron slag has been mixed with the clay.  Ironstone was patented by Mason in England in 1813.
